Johan Krouthén - The painter of sunshine PDF Print E-mail

Johan Krouthén, one of Linköping's most famous artists is celebrated annually with a dramatised play performed by Linköping's Guideklubb members. Playing to a full house, the International audience of art lovers and drama interested went away happy and enlightened by the outstanding yearly performance.

Seen as the first of Sweden's outdoor artists, Krouthén lived a very hedonistic 74 years. Becoming famous for works in oil on canvas of life on the land, sunny subjects with haystacks, chickens and other farmyard animals. Krouthén trained at The Academy of Arts in Stockholm and The Institute des Artes in Paris living for many years in Skagen along with other well known Danish and Scandinavian artists. The latter part of his life in Linköping, his place of birth.
